This past week was a very busy week at St. Teresa School! We had our first Ontario Graduate Expectations assembly(“I Believe”) along with our umbrella skills introduction(some of our umbrellas didn’t quite work as expected-ask your children about that!). Deacon Shawn came to practice Christian meditation in most of our classes, we had our first Pizza Day, and we finished the week with a whole school “Hokey Pokey” hallway dance!

Great Playground News!

The St. Teresa Playground Committee along with School Council is proud to announce that St. Teresa School has received a grant from the City of Kitchener in the amount of $10,420 towards our Creative Playground Renewal!  This grant is from “Love My Hood”. We are very thankful for all the work done to earn this grant. This brings us to just over $30,000 in total funds raised!  Fantastic! This brings us so much closer to our goal! Please continue to help support us throughout this year so we can reach the finish line!

Thank-you Tiger Families and Friends!

Zinc Saves Lives- Social Justice Club

Zinc Saves Lives!

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018

Guess what St.Teresa families? It’s back! That’s right! It’s “The Batteries for Zinc Campaign” and the Social Justice Club encourages you to donate your used batteries again this year. We are collecting used batteries to save children’s lives through a program sponsored by “Zinc Saves Lives Battery Recycling Campaign.” It was founded by Teck, (A Canadian mining company and one of the world’s largest producers of zinc) and the Me to We Foundation. Two billion people don’t get enough zinc through their diet, and zinc deficiency contributes to the death of 450,000 children each year. For every recycled battery, Teck donates the value of the zinc it contains to WE in support of zinc and health work in WE villages in Kenya. DID YOU KNOW that a used AA battery has enough zinc to save 6 children’s lives? Last year, our school donated about 3762 used batteries which means, we saved about 22 572 children. Our goal is to get about 4500 used batteries which helps about 27 000 children. In each classroom, there will be a tin for used batteries. This year we won’t be collecting hearing aid batteries.

Thank you for supporting the St.Teresa Social Justice Club. —
Natalia, Juliana, and Hannah
