Christmas Services at St. Teresa Church

St. Teresa Families,

Please find attached the schedule for services at St. Teresa of Avila Church over the holidays. Father Gil welcomes everyone, and encourages us to celebrate together!

Christmas Church Schedule

On behalf of the St. Teresa School staff, I want to wish everyone a very blessing-filled Christmas and Happy New Year! Thank-you for all your support! We are truly blessed to work with your children each day!

Mr. Goodyear

Christmas Craft Sale- last reminder!

Tomorrow is our annual Christmas craft sale for the students. It’s a wonderful time for each class to come and purchase some small gifts for parents and other family members. Students are reminded to bring their money in small denominations, along with a ziplock bag or wallet with their names on it in case it gets lost. Parents please make sure that the raffle tickets have your child’s first name and last initial on the ticket, and cut up. Raffle tickets are 3 for $1.00 or 50 cents each.

The Christmas craft sale is always a highlight for the students and staff of St. Teresa School.  Thanks so much for all your donations and your support!

When the Holidays are Difficult

Dear Families,

As we all know, Christmas can be a time of great joy, but can also be a time of sadness and grief. Please find enclosed a caring and very supportive letter by our St. David Family of Schools Social Worker, Mrs. Cathy McDonald-Reis, about supports available during this week and some contacts for during the holidays. We ask for God’s blessings on all our families during the Christmas season and New Year.

Finding Joy at Christmas Dec 2018

Christmas Sweater/Colours Day this Friday!

Christmas Sweater/Christmas Colour Day!

This Friday,December 21st, The Social Justice Club, is sponsoring Christmas Sweater/Christmas Colour Day at St.Teresa School. We are asking students to make a free-will “loose change” (quarters, loonies, toonies) donation. We would like to purchase a Christmas gift for a family in a developing country through Chalice, a Catholic charitable organization. If a student brings in a coin donation, we will give them a ballot  for a raffle prize generously donated by Mr. Goodyear.

The donations collected from the classrooms will go towards buying a goat, cow or maybe even vaccinations! Last year, just the Social Justice Club raised $75 dollars and we were able to buy a goat! A goat doesn’t just help the family but it helps the whole community. A goat can give milk, reproduce and make more goats and be used as meat. Any donations are appreciated. You do not need to bring money to dress up and enjoy the day. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,

Ianis, Lourdez, Maya and Madison on behalf of The Social Justice Club

A very special thank-you goes out to all those involved in the Christmas Pageant at the Church this past weekend at mass! Thank-you to all the students involved, the parents who supported this, and to the volunteers who helped make this such a wonderful event during the season of Advent! Thank-you to Mrs. Schaus for directing the performance again this year! It was wonderful, and so meaningful when it was included as part of the mass!

Thank-you to Fr. Gil as well for not only supporting the pageant, but for welcoming in the students with absolute joy! It was fitting that we lit the pink candle this past weekend not only to symbolize the third week of Advent, but of the Joy of the birth of Jesus to come!

Father Gil went out of his way to spend time talking to the whole congregation about the children of the Parish, telling them how important they are, the energy they bring, and how they are the future of the Church.  Father invited all the children along with their families to Church each weekend. He really wants everyone there to celebrate on the weekends!

In fact, the following document “appeared” in each pew this weekend about children at Church.

Celebrating Children at St. Teresa of Avila Parish

“This is the warmest welcome I’ve ever witnessed in a Church for the young people. Our community is so very fortunate to have the parish of St. Teresa of Avila that is building together so strongly with such a strong emphasis on the children.” (Mr. Goodyear)

We thank all our First Communion Candidates, their parents and teachers, for sharing their projects at the Church this weekend as well! We also thank our Confirmation Candidates, their parents, and teachers for sharing their projects last weekend at mass!

We wish all our families all the very best that this Christmas season has to offer!  We as a staff are truly blessed to work in such a caring, committed community with Christ at the centre! We thank our parents, grandparents, guardians, and community partners for all you do on behalf of the students at St. Teresa School! We are told that the special feeling when you enter into our building and walk down the halls is the Holy Spirit at work! We as the staff of St. Teresa School are all truly blessed to work, learn, and celebrate in such a special school! Thank-you for sending us your children every day!
