Mission Day is Coming!

Mission Day is Coming! Friday, March 13th

Here is some information about Mission Day this year. Same fun, same support of awesome charities, a bit different approach to money collection. Please see below for more details.

This year, for Mission Day, we are using School Cash Online to make purchases prior to Mission Day, tentatively booked on Friday, March 13th in the afternoon. This year it will be a “one purchase” ticket for $10 that will include all activities, one slice of pizza, one drink, a bag of chips, and 25 raffle tickets for each student. No money is needed on the day of Mission Day. We are selling one of these packages per student; no multiples please. There will also be an option on School Cash Online to pay/donate a ticket for another student if you’d like. We really want all students to participate.

Please contact the school if you have any questions. All money raised goes to charities, both international and local. Thank-you!

Donations are appreciated for Mission Day
Here are some examples:
-Small prizes for games, bouncy balls, pencils, erasers, etc.
-suckers
-raffle prizes suitable for older students(small denomination gift cards eg. Timmy’s, soccer balls, basketballs, etc.)
-juice boxes
-adult volunteers!
We can really use volunteers to help run our awesome events. It’s a great afternoon with lots of fun, and it goes by very quickly! This is one of the highlights of the year for the students! If you can help out on Mission Day afternoon on Friday, March 13th, please call the school (519)743-2131 and let Mrs. Lavigne and Mrs. Schaefer know. Thank-you!

Student Immunizations
Very Important!
Families, you would have received a letter from Waterloo Public Health by now about any missing immunizations for your child/children. Please book appointments with your family doctor or Waterloo Public Health in the next couple days to get the immunizations up-to-date if you received one of these letters. Very soon schools will be sent suspension lists for students who don’t have their immunizations updated. Please help us avoid these situations at school. Thank-you for your attention to this!

Hot Chocolate Sales are Back at St. Teresa School!

The most exciting two weeks of the year are back. That’s right, you guessed it, hot chocolate sales are here! Hot chocolate sales will be held this Friday, February 28th and next Friday, March 6th. All you have to do is bring a dollar and a mug, so you can enjoy a tasty cup of hot chocolate to warm you up during the chilly Canadian winter and if you have an extra large mug, don’t fear, bring in two dollars to fill it! We will not be supplying paper cups, to reduce waste in landfills; so please bring your own mug.

There is a history behind St. Teresa’s hot chocolate sales. All proceeds go to McMaster Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House-Hamilton, in memory of Mayella Fitzgerald. Mayella was a graduate of St.Teresa School and was diagnosed with leukemia. While she was ill, she stayed in both the McMaster Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House-Hamiliton.

Hot Chocolate dates: Friday, February 28th and Friday, March 6th

Sincerely,
Charlie
On behalf of the Social Justice Club
