St. Teresa joins the Mudpuppy Chase!

MUDPUPPY CHASE RUNNING EVENT!

Dear Families,

Our school is entering a team in the MudPuppy Chase Fun Run on Sunday May 6th!  The race is taking place at Columbia Playing Fields 5 and 7 at the University of Waterloo. There are 3 race distances; 600 metre race for those 6 and under beginning at 9:00am, 3 km race that begins at 9:20 a.m., followed by the 5km at 10:20 a.m.  All proceeds help support KidsAbility Centre for Child Development and many other local causes supported by the Rotary Club of Kitchener-Grand River.  Your participation helps children and youth with special needs gain access to life-changing therapy, essential equipment, assistance for their families and so much more. This year, the Rotary Club will also focus on helping schools with individual projects to assist students’ learning.

The registration fee for the 3 and 5 km races is $35 per runner. This fee, which is a special rate for school groups, can be covered or offset through collecting pledges. The fee for the 600m race is $15.

The top student fundraiser receives a gift certificate for a new bike.

All school children who raise the following are recognized:

$100– waterpark passes

$200– bowling

$300– bowling and pizza

 

These prizes may be redeemed at Bingeman’s.

The MudPuppy Chase includes great food for all racers, and a finishing prize. Tex, from the Kitchener Rangers, will greet us at the finish line. The popular photo booth, coffee by donation, water table for spectators, and information booth will be back.

For this year, paper pledges will only be accepted for St. Teresa School. In future years we may join the online pledge process.

 

**Registration is only complete when a minimum of $35.00 in donations has been made handed in at the school.  This is a very important part of the registration process.**

  • Any number of family members and/or friends are welcome to join through our team. Many family members often join the run.
  • Families are responsible for arranging transportation for their child/children to and from the race- transportation will not be arranged through the school.
  • All registration forms and fees and/or pledge forms and money need to be handed in at school by Friday, April 27, 2018. Race packages, which include the t-shirts, will be delivered to the school by Thursday or Friday. (May 3th and 4th)

Kids always enjoy running with their schoolmates, families and friends, and will definitely be beaming with pride knowing they have raised money for such great local causes!

Thanks for your support! This is a wonderful event where so many students join in. They get treated as “professional” runners, with chip timers that record their times, a medal when finishing, great food after, and this year they get a shirt to wear on the date of the run. I’ve attended with my family the last few years and it’s a super exciting morning! I will be there with our school sign to cheer our students on!

I will be meeting with students who are interested on Monday morning, and will send pledge forms home. Please highlight that pledges must be returned to the school by Friday, April 27th at 9:20am if you’d like your child to participate.

All students, regardless of running ability are encouraged to join! It’s so much fun!
