St. Teresa Families,
This web posting is longer than usual. There is quite a bit of information located in the webpost and the attachments throughout.
Thank-you! Have a wonderful weekend and fantastic week next week!
This morning our school went to mass at St. Teresa Church. Mr. Boragina’s class prepared the mass and we thank them. We thank the altar servers, Mrs. Pickett for being Eucharistic Minister, and and to Fr. Gil for celebrating mass with the whole school! Father taught us about the 3 Kings and the gifts they brought! This weekend we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus at mass! All are welcome!
It’s important for all students to be at school and on time each day. Kudos to those many students at St. Teresa who have near perfect attendance! Here is a reminder for attendance and how much it affects student achievement. PDF-Attendance-Late-Chart We miss our students when they are not at school! Being on time is such a special and important life skill as well. We have one of the latest school bell times in the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and we still have some students who arrive to school late. Being a little early helps all our students start the day calmly and well-prepared! Let’s Go Tigers!
Please see the message from our director, Loretta Notten:
It gives me great pleasure to share with you The Director’s Annual Report from Waterloo Catholic DSB. Director’s Update It is a proud reflection of all of the incredible, inclusive, faith-filled work that characterizes our system day in and day out. It celebrates our many accomplishments against our articulated goals from our Multi-Year Strategic Plan, which was renewed and launched in January of 2019. It bears witness to our strong relationships with parishes, parents and our community.
We hope you will take a few minutes to journey through the report and to enjoy the many accomplishments of our #WCDSBAwesome staff and students! It is a privilege and an honour to work with the staff and broader community at Waterloo Catholic. Our students are indeed well positioned to realize their full potential to transform God’s world. #CalledToBelong

Just mention St. Teresa School at the check-out. Thank-you!
Bell Let’s Talk Day
On January 29th, 2020 we will join in the conversation again and celebrate Bell Let’s Talk Day! This year WCDSB’s theme for Bell Let’s Talk is “It’s the Little Things,” celebrating the small gestures (at home, at school, in the community) that we can do to build one another up, show kindness, and express gratitude.
Cold Weather Days are Here!
With the winter months now here, winter safety is an important consideration. Children should always come to school dressed appropriately for the outside each day. Even in extreme cold when they might be kept inside, there is always the consideration of coming to and from school, as well as the risk of an emergency procedure where we must evacuate the building. When the snow hits the ground, students are going to be tempted to play in it. We want our students to have safe fun in the snow! We have our winter “Snow Rules” that we remind our student of to keep everyone safe at school. During periods of severe weather, please listen to the radio or visit the Board website at the following link: Waterloo Catholic District School Board Website.
It’s time for JK Registration! JK registration is for students who were born in 2016. Wow! Please see the following link for more information JK Registration Information

Ontario English Catholic Teacher’s Association Labour Update- A Message from the Waterloo Catholic District School Board
As part of the ongoing central bargaining process involving the Ontario government and education workers across the province, the association representing our teachers – the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) – has indicated that if a collective agreement isn’t reached today or over the weekend, that starting Monday, January 13, 2020 teachers will no longer be performing a variety of administrative duties.
A list of specific duties being withdrawn can be found at:
This withdrawal of services will not impact the safety of our school and, with the exception of preparation for EQAO testing, direct services provided to our students will be unaffected.
Co-curricular activities (clubs, field trips, special events, etc.) will not be impacted by this withdrawal of services at this time.
We do remain hopeful the two sides can come to a fair and respectful agreement that serves the best interests of our students.
